Investigating the Police: A systems oriented design approach to futuring

Format: Workshops, RSD13, RSD13 all sessions, RSD13-OSLOMET WORKSHOPS, RSD13-Workshops, Topic: Methods & Methodology

Hanna Diesen and Nina Berg

Organised by students of systems-oriented design at AHO, the theme centres on the future role of the police as part of the Norwegian welfare system. Together with systemic design approaches, the workshop focuses on designing the future police. This futuring workshop follows the world café format, incorporating methodologies and practices familiar to systemic designers, such as gigamapping, jumping conversations, and fostering opinions, questions, and reflections.

The aim is to gather insights from a diverse group with a shared systemic design orientation, developing a set of expectations for the services of the future police. The café environment encourages conversation and ideation, with tablecloths replaced by paper, ready for gigamapping in smaller groups. Questions are provided at each table.

KEYWORDS: systemic design, facilitating, futuring, storytelling
