SystemicStories AI: An AI-enabled systemic design atlas for Singapore’s health & care sector

Yeuk Fan Ng, Tamsin Greulich Smith, Brian Ng, Kok Young Chai, and Tewin Goh

Experience SystemicStories.AI, an emerging platform that transforms lived and professional narratives into multi-level system maps. Participants will move from storytelling to visualisation, insight, and innovation, exploring how AI can augment—rather than replace—human sensemaking across complex healthcare and socio-technical systems.

Mind the Gap: Transitions between systems and getting lost in the void

Marit Askbo, Omri Geiger, and Thomas Gundersen

What happens in the gap between systems after a life-changing experience? Using cancer survivorship as a starting point, participants will gigamap transitions, belonging, loss, and reintegration, drawing on varied experiences to explore how systemic design might support more nuanced passages between structured environments and everyday life.

Fieldkeeper’s Log: entry [number]—exploring relational technologies through dramaturgy, poetics, and metaphor

Willow Gatewood

Become a Fieldkeeper and explore relational technologies through dramaturgy, poetic speculation, and conceptual mapping. Participants will create fragments of a living Fieldkeeper’s Log, using sensory notes and speculative protocols to imagine forms of AI and systems design grounded in reciprocity, slowness, ambiguity, and more-than-human relationships.

All Tomorrow’s Policies: Methods for dual-timeframe policy innovation

Chelsea Mauldin and Natalia Radywyl

How can public-sector teams meet today’s demands while preparing for systemic change? This workshop introduces dual-timeframe policy innovation, combining participatory design, futures methods, and policy development. Participants will prototype approaches that address immediate needs while building capacity for more regenerative and just futures.
Please pre-register for workshops so the organisers can prepare.

Shades of Metadesign: Diversity and coherence in emergence

Hannah Jones and Mathilda Tham

How can systemic design hold diversity while communicating with coherence? Using concepts of Awkward Space and Lucky People, participants will create and cross-fertilise systemic design biographies through textile and clay, exploring plural identities, tensions, and shared ways of articulating what systemic design can be and do.

The workshop builds upon our keynote presentation from last year’s RSD14: Retrospective & Prospective Storytelling of Metadesign Impacts: A 60-Year Arc.

Next week's Paper Talks: October 8 & 9

Come for the research. Stay for the cool weirdness.

Paper Talks are 142 papers curated in groups of three. Expect serious thinking, unexpected connections, portable ideas, and quite a bit of holy cow!
Paper Talks are organised around three broad tracks; you'll find these at the top of the session page.

ACTING — Practice: how systemic design is practised in real contexts—working with people, organisations, communities, places, and systems to navigate complexity and change.
ENACTING — Methods: how systemic design is done—the methods, tools, processes, frameworks, and forms of making through which systemic inquiry and intervention are carried out.
KNOWING — Inquiry: how systems and systemic design are understood—research, interpretation, sensemaking, epistemologies, ontologies, plurality, and different ways of knowing.

Come for one paper, one conversation, or an unexpected connection. You do not need to be presenting—or even to call yourself an academic—to join in.

October 8 & 9. Don’t miss the edges of your field.
