Hosting the Olympics presents India with a transformative opportunity to showcase its rich cultural diversity, accelerate infrastructural development, and stimulate economic growth. This research maps the entire ecosystem involved in hosting the Games, identifying key stakeholders and analysing its multidimensional impacts across technological, infrastructural, economic, social, and policy sectors. By examining the challenges, opportunities, and systemic shifts associated with organising a global mega-event of this scale, the study offers a comprehensive understanding of how hosting the Olympics could reshape India’s national trajectory and global standing.
The map illustrates the interconnected networks required to deliver an event of this magnitude, from governance structures and funding mechanisms to urban planning, transport, and digital infrastructure, highlighting the importance of collaboration among government bodies, private enterprises, sports federations, and local communities. We address sustainability, inclusion, and legacy planning as central design principles. The analysis underscores the trade-offs between short-term spectacle and long-term national benefit and ranges from a single-city bid to a distributed, multi-city approach. By framing the Olympics not simply as an event but as a catalyst for systemic transformation, the conclusion emphasises the potential of the Games as an opportunity for India.
