This paper illustrates the outcome of an interdisciplinary, inter-sectoral and co-creative workshop on the role of empathy in designing digital transformations. The workshop followed a data-generative approach where all participants were involved in co-creating a common understanding of digital transformation and outlined the role empathy and designers play in this process. The main methods used were co-creation on Miro and discussion. The discussion was initiated by three keynotes who shared perspectives from private, public and education sectors. The workshop concluded that empathy has a significant role in humanising digital transformation. Therefore, the paper illustrates the conclusions from the workshop, which discusses the role of empathy as a tool to bring together and simplify the tensions that pose a barrier to transformation.
